Lynyard Skynyrd - Gimme Three Steps
Every time this song comes on at work I feel at home again.

Eventually you’ve walked up to a cliff
#stories we tell
because maybe in reality the world is round, but from time to time you will get to the end of some part of your world and you’ll need to jump. It’s terrifying and feels absolutely wrong, noting about it is familiar. Spend your whole life alone, abandoning relationships, on the road, moving forward and you’ll still get to a cliff and have to lose everything again. You could turn back and relive everything you’ve experienced, but it’s boring so you better just jump. The whole way down is terrible and scary, you land, you’re a little bruised, it takes a while, suddenly you get your footing and things fall into place—into whole new places. You’re alone, you know nothing, you’re on the road, you’re moving forward, but it’s better. And then you’ll have joined a whole new gang of people who get what you’ve been through and they open up on a new level and tell you stories of when they jumped the same cliff.
Everyone who has done it recognizes it in everyone else. Everyone still waiting to jump gets left behind.
I don’t know all of it, I’m still in the middle of no where, but I’ve started to hear the stories of people like me and eventually they fell into a new life that made sense and felt right.
I was born on the backseat of a Greyhound bus, rollin’ down Highway 41…
